How We Met...
It was the evening of July 12, 2001, and a local cover band was playing in the small town of East Bernard, Texas. With not much to do in Bay City, we grabbed our friends, drove to East Bernard to hear some music and dance. I was there with my friends and Joe was there with his. The lights were flashing, the music was playing, and we just so happened to dance together (that alone is funny because Joe doesn't even like to dance). We danced once, and before we knew it we were dancing all night to all kinds of things. It was such a fun night! One of my most memorable nights, and one of his also...I hope. After the dance was over, everybody from the dance headed over to "The Store", that's what everyone called it (it was just a big gas station). Joe and I found each other there, exchanged some small talk, and eventually exchanged phone numbers. The rest is history...
Through The Years...
We've been together for over five and a half wonderful years. It has been a great ride so far, we've seen new places, experienced new things, and created many wonderful memories. In the summer of 2002, Joe and I traveled with some friends to Florida. We made our way to Orlando, and eventually to Disney World. A few weeks later we would find ourselves in Cancun, Mexico. The beach was great, and sights were marvelous, and the margaritas were out of this world! In the years to come we were able to visit New Orleans, Nebraska, and Las Vegas. Our traveling experiences have been great. We've both had the opportunity to attend, graduate, and receive degrees in our respective career fields. Our futures are looking bright, and after five years of dating, the greatest question of all finally came out of Joe's mouth...yes, you guessed it.
Finally, It's Here...
August 12, 2006, the day of our five year anniversary will be a day we always remember. On this day we had special plans to celebrate the five wonderful years we have shared together. It all began with an early surprise lunch date at the Downtown Aquarium. As soon as we arrived Joe had a special reservation arranged for us. We were taken to a remote area of the aquarium, and as soon as we rounded the corner I was surprised to see a table full of all the people we loved...that alone was quite a surprise. As we mingled a little with our family, we began to order our drinks. The waiter began to give us factual information about the various fish in the aquarium. As we were admiring the fish in the giant aquarium we noticed a diver enter the tank through a ladder directly in front of our table. She swam down and began to wave at our table, we were very excited and thought she was going to feed the fish in the aquarium. Little did I know what was about to happen next...she flipped over a sign that read "Stephanie Will You Marry Me?" Our table was so shocked an overwhelmed. I was so excited, Joe then got on his knee and asked quietly "Will you marry me?", and of course I said "YES!" We gave the diver a big thumbs up, and everybody at the table began congratulating us. This is a great memory for us and our loved ones who were a part of our special day.
Counting Down The Days...
In January I was officially finished with school, and it was time to start planning a wedding. Joe and I sat and talked, and agreed on a date for our special day...July, 21, 2007. We have the date, we have our budget, and we have many friends and family excited to lend a helping hand. This is an exciting time in our lives, and are counting down the days until we are officially known as The Calderons. We are excited to have all of our friends and family come together to help us celebrate this joyous occasion, Hope to see all of you soon!
